Generate shorts from your long-form content for cents, not $.
ClipZen is a clip generator you install once and own. About $0.10 per hour of source video in pay-as-you-go AI costs — nothing else, no subscription, ever.
One email at launch. No newsletter, no drip campaign.
ClipZen
$0.10
per hour of source video
You pay AI providers directly, at their standard rate. We never take a cut.
Subscription clip tools
$2.90 – $6.00
per hour of source video
The going rate on annual or monthly subscription plans, depending on tier.
Subscription clip tools cost 29× more per hour. Sometimes
58× .
The per-hour math on subscription clip tools lands somewhere between $2.90 (best annual plans) and $6.00 (month-to-month). ClipZen runs about $0.10 per hour, paid directly to AI providers.
Meters punish heavy users.
Subscription clip tools charge per minute of source video. A weekly two-hour podcast can burn through the typical plan in two episodes.
You rent the software forever.
Stop paying and you lose access to the tool itself — not just future updates. Cancel a subscription, cancel your workflow.
The math compounds.
Five hours of monthly processing is ~$29/month. Two years of that = $696. ClipZen handles the same volume in about $12 of AI API costs.
| Source hours | ClipZen | SaaS annual | SaaS monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 hour | $0.10 | $2.90 | $5.80 |
| 10 hours | $1.00 | $29.00 | $58.00 |
| 50 hours | $5.00 | $174 | $290 |
| 100 hours | $10.00 | $290 | $580 |

~$0.10/ hr
Paid directly to an AI provider with your own API key. We never see usage, take no cut, charge no markup.

Questions.
01 When does ClipZen launch?
We're targeting a launch later this year. Sign up above and we'll email you once when the build is ready. One email, no newsletter.
02 Can I buy ClipZen now?
Not yet — we're collecting interest before launch. Sign up above and you'll be among the first notified when the build ships and the $79 one-time purchase opens.
03 What will the $79 launch price include?
The ClipZen application, a setup guide written for non-developers, and lifetime access to the version you buy. No login server, no monthly renewal, no per-clip fees.
04 Who pays for AI processing?
You do, directly to an AI provider you sign up with (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) using your own API key. The math works out to about $0.10 per hour of source video at current model prices. ClipZen doesn't take a cut and there's no markup.
05 Do I need to be technical to set up an API key?
No. The setup guide walks through creating an account with the AI provider, generating a key, and pasting it into ClipZen. Roughly five minutes, no coding.
06 What are the system requirements?
ClipZen will support Windows, macOS, and Linux at launch. Exact specs (disk, RAM, recommended GPU) will be published with the launch announcement.
07 What sources can it clip from?
YouTube and Twitch VODs at launch. We're adding more long-form sources after the first release.
08 Where does my data go?
The app, your video library, and your edits all stay on your machine. The only data that leaves your computer is the audio and frames sent to your AI provider for transcription and scene analysis — same as any cloud-based clip tool, except you control the API key and the billing relationship.
